Painted Miniatures By Jarrett Lee
So November is looking to be rat month for me - these new Skaven have captured my imagination (I used to have a Skaven army, YEARS ago). I really love the new models but in the mean time (ie until Saturday's release) I picked up a box of 20 plague monks. Here they are mostly finished (need grass, dull coat and other finishing touches). These are painted rank-and-file standard. I cannot WAIT to paint the screaming bell!
Update: all of the items shown below are scheduled to be on ebay this evening (Monday) starting around 7:15 PST.
Hey folks,
So as usual my insanely busy job and painting whenever I get time has left me little time to tend to the blog - sorry for infrequently updating.
I painted up 1000 points of Tau but then Space Wolves caught my eye and I have 1000 points of those in progress now. As such I will be ebaying the Tau this weekend. I am also going to be selling/ebaying a variety of finished and not-quite-finished models including the Stegasaur and Ork Battlewagon below. Also my Cryx army, but I dont want to list everything at once because then the shipping logistics become a pain
I told myself "no more fantasy" and that I wasnt interested in the Skaven. Then I saw the screaming bell slash plague furnace in the new book at GW. OH MY GOD - I can't believe how completely awesome the GW plastic kits are lately. These are just magnificent. I love the Rat Ogre pulling the chain to ring the bell. Wicked. So I preordered the army book and the Doomwheel (which is also really cool).
Here's some photos of recent work.

Thought I'd post some shots of the other Space Hulk models. Now, I've always maintained this painted set is for me to keep and play with (which I have been doing, it's tons of fun). However, then I saw how much a reasonably well painted set sells for on Ebay (800-1000 dollars for sets arguably painted about the same quality or less). Argh. I may have to part with them. My wife is not happy with all the models I've bought lately (I have 1000 points of Tau on the verge of completion lol).

On paper this guy sounds like he breaks the game but we'll try him out soon
He looks pretty nice (nice model)! Hope you like. Painted for gaming so there's some flaws of course. With the completion of this guy there isn't much that isnt done in the set. The odd thing like the CAT objective.

Hi guys! Man, been a while - sorry for the inactivity. Actually it's been blog inactivity - I've been painting plenty. I have 1k of Guard I'm playing now, and have started another Ork force.
But my main focus has been the new Space Hulk! You can put me firmly in the "this set kicks BUTT" camp of opinion. I know some people bitch about the price, or wanting plastic corridors blah blah but I think it's just gorgeous. I love the printed tiles, the overall polish, and the models are stunning.
I have almost my whole set painted. For the most part I just have to do minor tweaks like painting purity seal wax (things like that). Actually, just when I think I've managed to paint all the details I find a tiny detail I missed like a gem or something. These guys are really detailed. I have all the stealers done, all the marines pretty much, the door bases....just need to do the Librarian now. He's last because he has a unique color scheme that was not part of any assembly line process. Pictured below are a subset of my Terminators (I still have to do the faces on the Seargents so they aren't pictured yet). I'm doing them in the official colors because I love how it looks. I'm also going somewhat fast (I had the set on Friday and was ready to play with them by Tuesday) so there are some corners cut.
I also bought 2 more sets to paint and probably sell someday.

One of the first things completed for my IG army is this Leman Russ Battle Tank. I converted it slightly (new barrel) because Im not a fan of the somewhat cartoonish fat barrel on the stock kit. I also added plasma sponsons. I had to convert those because the ones that come in the new demolisher kit are being used on the Executioner. As with all my armies, the goal here was something that could look really good on the tabletop but doesnt stand up to close scrutiny.
'Course, as I was uploading my photos I realized that I missed a step - the fine dusting of dirt along the bottom of the sides/tracks. So I'll probably add that too.

I think I should really get a small tripod for my upstairs office if I'm going to take the occassional WIP shot. These are just too shaky / blurry lol.
Here, in blurry glory, are a few tanks I have in progress. A converted Leman Russ Battletank, a Leman Russ executioner (the photo makes the glowing part look really bright and silly - much worse than in person) and a Hellhound which I will use as a banewolf but I dropped the nozzle between the boards of my deck. But I digress.
The various tank commanders aren't finished (highlites, details) yet and these need some more highlites and some snappy graphite edging on the sharp edges. And various other details (and a matte coat, they are pretty shiny right now). I really enjoyed painting these tanks kits.

This guy will be up for auction tonight. He's a somewhat simple Vendetta conversion - no interior painting etc.

Well that was fun! I had no idea there would be so many people there today - the store was packed and very little real estate left on the tables for selling when I arrived!
Got a pile of gift certificates and gave some people some really, really good deals on stuff like Eldar and Lizardmen. Also, all my painted and part-painted stuff sold very quickly - kicking myself I didnt bring more. Next time I'll take a bigger pile with me.
Made a small dent in the proceeds by picking up the new IG tanks (hellhound and demolisher) and the how to paint tanks book. The book didn't have a whole lot of new stuff that I hadnt heard elsewhere before, but is still a great read (I kinda eat that stuff up) and has some nice images and inspiration in it.
If you live in the Edmonton area and are interested, Kingsway GW is having their birthday celebration on Saturday (Aug 1) and along with that they are doing the "bizarre bazaar". Basically, people will be selling models they aren't going to use - the difference being instead of paying cash, you buy the person store gift certificates for their stuff. I have sorted a large pile of plastic and metal models (gently) into big ziplock bags and other packages - including lots of Lizardmen, Ork, Eldar, Necrons, Chaos and more. Most is very cheap - just doesnt look pretty in a big pile (a lot of it is assembled and primed) but nothing is damaged
